About this dried honey melon
Melons grown in the Ararat Valley, sliced into long strips and dried slowly until the sugars concentrate into something closer to a honeyed sweet than a fresh fruit. No sugar added; sulphur dioxide (E220) is used as a preservative during drying, and the amber colour is otherwise entirely the melon's own. Contains sulphites.
The texture stays soft and pliable rather than brittle, with a rich, honeyed flavour and a faint chew.
Eat it on its own, stir it into porridge or yoghurt, or fold it into baking — it pairs naturally with tea or coffee in place of something sweet.
The Ararat Valley's long, hot summers are what make this possible — the same conditions that have made the region known for melons for generations. Each strip is cut by hand from ripe, in-season fruit, so thickness and length vary slightly from batch to batch, a sign it hasn't been machine-processed.
