A short guide to dried fruit
What it actually is
Dried fruit is fresh fruit with most of its water removed — traditionally by the sun, more recently in an oven or a dehydrator. Nothing is added in the process itself: what changes is concentration, not composition.
What stays, what concentrates
Because it starts as whole fruit, dried fruit keeps most of the fibre, minerals and vitamins of the fresh version — vitamin C drops somewhat in drying, the rest holds up well. Sugar concentrates too: removing the water doesn't remove the sugar, so a handful of dried fruit carries meaningfully more sugar and calories, ounce for ounce, than the same weight of fresh fruit.
A handful, not a bowlful
Dried fruit is smaller and easier to eat by the handful, so it's easy to eat two or three servings' worth without noticing — five dried apricots go down a lot more easily than five fresh ones. Treat it the way you would nuts: a good everyday addition to porridge, granola or a trail mix, in a sensible portion rather than by the bagful.
Why Armenian dried fruit
Natural Climate Advantage
Armenia's high-altitude climate, abundant sunshine, and fertile volcanic soil create fruits with naturally richer flavor, sweetness, and aroma.
Exceptional Taste
Armenian fruits are known for their intense natural sweetness and vibrant flavor, making them ideal for premium dried fruit production.
Traditional Growing Methods
Many Armenian orchards are family-owned and cultivated using generations of traditional farming knowledge, prioritizing quality over mass production.
Rich Soil
The mineral-rich volcanic soil of Armenia nourishes fruits with distinctive character and exceptional taste.
Sun-Ripened Harvest
Long sunny days and cool mountain nights allow fruits to ripen slowly, developing deeper flavor and higher natural sugar content.
Less Processing, More Flavor
Premium Armenian dried fruits retain their authentic taste because the quality begins in the orchard, not in artificial additives or processing.
Heritage & Authenticity
For centuries, Armenia has been renowned for producing some of the world's finest apricots, peaches, plums, and grapes, earning a reputation for exceptional fruit quality.
Sustainability & Care
Our fruits are carefully sourced from orchards across Armenia, supporting local growers while preserving the country's agricultural traditions.
The story of ARCHIR
Founded in 2016 on a simple belief: exceptional dried fruit comes from care as much as from the fruit itself. We travel Armenia's valleys and orchards ourselves, working directly with growers who hold to that same standard — apricot, plum, peach, cherry, mulberry and more, selected fruit by fruit rather than bought in bulk.
Every season is a chance to do it a little better — a cleaner cut, a steadier rack, a shorter gap between orchard and package. What began as one small operation has grown into a standing habit of paying attention.
We've never treated this as just a business. Every batch gets the same care we'd want for our own kitchen table — and that, more than anything, is what people taste when they open a bag.
