About this soft-dried yellow cherry
A yellow sweet cherry, soft-dried rather than fully dehydrated, so it keeps a slight give rather than turning hard. The colour stays a warm amber-gold, and the taste is mild — sweet with a light fruitiness, without the sharpness of the Shpanka, our sour-cherry variety.
No sugar or syrup added. Sulphur dioxide (E220) is used as a preservative during drying, to help the fruit keep its amber-gold colour. Contains sulphites. What sweetness there is belongs entirely to the cherry.
Stir it into porridge or a grain salad, fold it into baking, or eat it alongside nuts, cottage cheese or yoghurt.
Yellow sweet cherries are harvested earlier in the season than our red and sour varieties, and in smaller volumes, since the trees bear less fruit — part of why this one is harder to find than a typical dried cherry. It's a good introduction for anyone who finds a sour cherry too sharp.
