About this dried apple
Apples grown in Armenia, peeled, cored and dried whole in open air. No sugar added; sulphur dioxide (E220) is used as a preservative during drying, to help the fruit hold its colour. Contains sulphites.
Drying concentrates the fruit until a kilo of fresh apple becomes roughly a hundred grams of this. What is left is dense, faintly honeyed, and high in fibre.
Eat them as they are, or drop them into porridge, a salad, or a loaf.
We source firm, late-season varieties from orchards across the Armavir and Ararat regions, picked once the sugars have fully developed. Open-air drying takes longer than a forced tunnel, but it keeps the rings supple rather than brittle, and preserves more of the fruit's natural aroma. A handful travels well for a snack on the go, and steeped in hot water it makes a naturally sweet infusion.
